Ridge Quarry & RAF Bomb Store
Part 2

Other than the two slope shafts, the only other way to get bombs in and out was via this lift shaft, (now blocked).

Decaying wood.

A geological fault meant that the quarry was on two levels, connected by a slope. This was the winch-house that hauled the trucks up the slope.

The changing level of the quarry can easily be seen.

The quarry is full of drawings, mostly from the 1940's & 50's.

The slope back to the higher level.

The walls had been partly concreted here.

A very wet area of the quarry.

A face carved into the rock.
