Old Warden Tunnel

Towards the end of the tunnel it started to get quite wet. These hard formations on the floor were very similar to ones that we had seen in Yellowstone National Park in the USA.

 

Ben's breath shows how cold and humid it was down there.

 

Daylight again!

 

The southern entrance of the tunnel was backfilled with earth to within about 10 foot of the roof.

 

"Do we have to climb up that mud bank Dad?" Yes!

 

The southern entrance was very overgrown - the tunnel is just a couple of yards behind Ben.

 

Outside the tunnel we could see where the track used to head south.
