Looking very tired... well they had been underground for over five hours at this point.

This was the second bat we'd come across in Box that day. The boys were brilliant and instantly lowered their voices and gave it a wide berth as it's illegal to disturb a bat in the UK. On every trip we've ever done I've always reminded them that if we see a bat we mustn't disturb it, and so I was very proud of how they acted. I shone a torch on the wall to get this shot, as flash photography is not allowed when a bat is in roost.
What an amazing creature.
It's amazing to think that the bat would have navigated through this tangled mass of rock.
Max squeezes through a gap that I had great difficulty getting through. When I eventually got through I popped out like a champagne cork!
