Ridge Quarry & RAF Bomb Store

Part 5

Climbing over 'deads' to get into another area of the quarry that was not used for bomb storage.

This part of the quarry was never cleared of waste rock, so remains pretty much how it was when it was abandoned 100 years ago.

Max peers through a hole that leads to Monks Park Quarry, another area used for bomb storage. Unlike Ridge, Monks Park is still in use.

Only one of us was brave enough to see what was on the other side...

What was through there? That would be telling!

Max climbs through a gap in a wall.

Heading back to the surface.

Daylight again!

The boys at the top of number two slope shaft; our entrance and exit.

Lots of information about Ridge Quarry can be found here.

That was part one of our big underground explore completed. Next stop the big one - Box Freestone Quarry.
