Monkton Farleigh Ammunition Depot and Mines

Part Two

The remains of one of the motors that would have driven the conveyor belt system.

The further into the tunnel we went, the more dilapidated the conveyor was.

About a mile into the tunnel.

Mmkay!

The end of the tunnel.

Fortunately, someone had broken through the wall that had been built to block the tunnel, although it was a tight squeeze.

"Main West", where the munitions would have been loaded onto the conveyor. The rooms here were immense.

The roof was evidence that this was a former mine.

Further in, a hole was in the wall that allowed access to the rest of the mine.

It's a lot easier for the smaller boys!

Just inside we find a very old wheelbarrow, laying next to a car door. How do these broken cars get here?!!
