The Collins Guide to Speaker Care

 

It is widely accepted that most modern speakers are capable of extremely high quality sound reproduction, but after several years of good service the sound quality can start to deteriorate. Few people are aware of just how simple it is to reverse this, and bring back that once cherished sound.

 Heybrook HB1

Before modification this Heybrook HB1 speaker had a number of problems:

The bass was overly thin, and very loose, making Mike Watt sound more like Sting!

The treble was overly bright and lacked direction, which ruined stereo imaging, (see below).

The sound-stage was very muddled making it practically impossible to distinguish a viola from a violin.

 

But all these problems went away after a few simple tweaks:
